Located in Rajasthan, in the western part of India, the Fort of Nagaur was a highly significant complex historically, but the fort's condition deteriorated over the years. Following a grant from the Getty Grants Program, U.S.A., concentrated efforts for conservation of the fort complex were carried out over the past five years.

Filmed over four years (1998 – 2002), this film captures the transformation of the dilapidated 4th century Ahhichatragarh Fort of Nagaur into an exotic palace complex. The film attempts to capture the essential spirit of the cponservation process which lay in minimum intervention while preserving the historicity of the buildings.

The conservation project won the UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Award of Excellence 2003.
